New Jersey Senate OKs Unemployment Benefits for Striking Workers

Last week the New Jersey Senate passed a bill that would provide unemployment benefits to striking workers. The bill is now awaiting action in the Assembly.

Assembly Speaker Vinnie Prieto says he plans to post the bill for a vote in the near future because strikers should not have to go for weeks without getting any compensation. “You should be able to voice your concerns to make a livable wage and good working environment and benefits and not be held hostage that you cannot put food on your table.”
